Rolling into 2015

As we head into our 4th year at ReCycles, we would have never thought we would be in this successful a position.  In the past 3 years we have given away 3000 bikes, and taken in over 5000 bikes as donations.  We have been the recipients of generous grants from the City of McKinney, and have newly formed donation partnerships with the Plano Christmas Cops, CASA, The Samaritan Inn, and several other need based organizations here in Collin County. DSC_0169 We continue to be thankful for the partnerships with local bike shops like Plano Cycling and Fitness in Plano, Bikes Plus in Allen, Performance Bikes in Plano, Richardson Bike Mart in Frisco, and Cadence Cyclery in McKinney.  All of which continue to serve as drop/donation points for us.

Even with such great supporters, the core of our efforts is on the volunteers that we have that keep coming back to work on getting these bikes in to the hands of those that need them.  Several local organizations and race teams have stepped forward to help with those efforts including Young Men’s Service League of Allen, Big Pig Racing, Dag Nabbit MTB Riders, and the Texas High School MTB League.  Individuals within these groups as we as some of our Master mechanics have put in thousands of hours making sure bikes get out of the door.

In 2015 we have several big giveaways we are already planning for:  In April, the Christ Fellowship Garage Giveaway (about 250 bikes), In August Cottonwood Creek Fun with the Son (about 100 bikes), and In October First Baptist of McKinney (about 250 bikes), In December Plano Christmas Cops (about 100 bikes) and this does not begin to include what other organizations ask as well.

As we roll into 2015, continued support, donations, and volunteers, will be greatly appreciated, and if you would like to get involved, please send us a note at info@recyclesmckinney.org.
